HOW
DO I PREPARE THE GROUND AREA Firstly
you must prepare the area by levelling the
ground and removing all stones. After which
if the surface is uneven you will need to
use some topsoil, place the topsoil onto
the required areas and level it out carefully
with a rake.
DO
I FLATTEN THE TOPSOIL? You
should firm the soil surface by walking
up and down on it taking small, heavy steps.
Fill any freshly-created dips with more
topsoil and compress again with your feet.
Give the surface a one final rake over to
ensure a regular smooth surface.
WHAT
IS THE BEST WAY TO LAY THE TURF? Lay
the turf rolls onto the soil, staggering
the joints like a brickwork pattern. If
it's a large area you are laying, then you
should work using planks of wood to avoid
walking on the fresh turf. Leave awkward
shapes and overlaps to the end before trimming
the turf.
WHAT
DO I USE TO TRIM THE TURF EDGES? To
create a perfect clean edge, carefully cut
off any excess turf with a sharp knife.
Pat down the new turf all over with the
back of the rake or similar to ensure it
makes contact with the soil and then make
sure you water the newly layed turf.
WHEN
CAN I MOW MY NEW LAWN? It
will take a few weeks for your lawn to establish
itself and in that time it's essential you
don't let the new turf dry out, so make
sure that you water it regularly. You can
begin mowing when the grass is approximately
2.5cm - 5cm high, and always remember never
to remove more than one third of the total
height of the new grass when mowing.
